Inspection & Engineering Services
Below you will find a example of a Scope of Work for Inspection Services.
TPI SCOPE:
- Review manufacturer’s QA & QC Systems for compliance with API Specification 5CT (Latest Edition) including the standardisation process of in-line NDE equipment, the use reference standards containing artificial reference indicators , the calibration of inspection tools and all relevant thread gauges.
- Review manufacturer’s API Certificate(s), other certificates and licences. Ascertain that manufacturer’s NDE personnel are qualified and certified to comply with API Specification 5CT (Latest Edition), Section 10.15.2.
- Witness manufacturer’s visual inspection at random and perform own visual inspection on external and internal surfaces.
- Perform dimensional inspection and review all mill records.
- Verify drift dimensions and witness drift testing.
- Witness thread gauging and care of working gauges and verify all calibration stickers. Perform visual thread inspection.
- Check make-up of couplings and type/application of thread compound.
- Witness hydrostatic tests and check test records/charts. Verify that chart recordings correspond to hydrostatically tested pipe numbers.
- NDE requirements (see 1 above), NDE system capability and standardisation to be witnessed every four (4) hours, after repairs or any other shut-down. Untested pipe ends or NDE of couplings, performed by wet MPI, must be assessed at least once per shift with regard to strength of magnetic fields, concentration of suspension and UV light intensity.
- Verify API mill markings on pipe bodies and couplings. Ascertain that supplementary markings as per customer’s P.O. are applied.
- Verify traceability that manufacturer follows implemented procedures for maintaining material identification/numbering systems as per API Specification 5CT (Latest Edition), Section 6.4, so that all specified test data can be related to individual lengths, coupling stock, couplings, pup joints or other material covered by the P.O..
- Check manufacturer’s chemical laboratory with regard to equipment (Optical Emission Spectrometer-OES mandatory) and review analyses and reporting (at the beginning, midpoint and end of each order), documentation/MTCs.
- Check manufacturer’s mechanical laboratory with regard to equipment and review preparation of test samples, testing procedures and reporting (at the beginning, midpoint and end of each order), documentation/MTCs.
- Review of pipe tally list.
The following hold points must be included in the manufacturer’s QC Plan
- Hydrostatic tests
- Hardness tests
- Full length drift tests
- Full length EMI / UT / MPI according to API or according to Customer requests (SR1 -SR 2)
- Radiographic tests for welded connections (if applicable)
- Special End Area for Grade C90, S95, and above
- Tests for SR as / if specified in Customer's Purchase Order
